Process and apparatus for measuring the concentration of nickel carbonyl in a gaseous
nickel carbonyl sample comprising (a) mixing the nickel carbonyl sample with ozone and
carbon monoxide under dynamic flow to produce a gaseous mixture with resultant
chemiluminescence and photon emission signal; (b) detecting the strength of the signal; and (c) correlating the signal strength with calibrated nickel carbonyl concentration values; the improvement including premixing the ozone and the carbon monoxide to form a
pre-mixture prior to mixing with the nickel carbonyl. Most preferably, the signal is
measured by an avalanche silicon diode.
